Timing Contracts

Beech Mountain, N.C. (October, 26th 2011)—Precision Race (www.precisionrace.com), a Raleigh-based race management and timing company, has been awarded the timing contracts for the Antler Realty A Cool 5 Race Weekend at Beech Mountain, NC for the second consecutive year.  Aligning with the A Cool 5 Race committee’s mission, Precision Race is integrating the latest technology to provide an unrivaled race day experience for race participants and organizers.

Simple to use and highly reliable Jaguar disposable bib chip timing and Real-Time Results are just two of many features available from Precision Race that provide a premium experience for race participants.

“Race organizers are continually looking to improve the experience for participants,” says Bruce Bokish, Precision Race co-owner. “We are excited to work on this event in such a beautiful setting, and look forward to using our services to provide a boost to participants and organizers.”

The package of real-time technologies Precision Race offers includes:

  • Disposable bib-chip timing – eliminates the need to put chips on shoes or to collect them at the end of a race.
  • SMS text messaging of finish times – as runners cross the finish line, they can receive a text message with their race times.
  • “Your Name in Lights” display – above the finish line, there will be large-screen displays that show runners’ names, bib numbers and time as they cross the finish line.
  • Real-time results kiosks – after finishing the race, runners can head to the touch-screen results kiosk, type in their bib number and see their finish time then print out their results. This eliminates the wait for results to be printed and posted.
  • Real-time updates of finish results on the internet.

In addition to the Antler Realty A Cool 5, Precision Race provides timing and management for numerous races spanning the Eastern United States. These include the Myrtle Beach Marathon, Krispy Kreme Challenge (the largest timed running event in NC), Freedom’s Run (marathon, half-marathon, 10K & 5K) in Shepherdstown, WV, Georgia Golden Olympics (cycling time trials and road races) in Warner Robbins, GA, Cooper Young Festival Friday 4-Miler in Memphis, TN, Ridgewood Turkey Trot and St. Patty’s Run Green 8K in Raleigh, NC and the Cup ‘n Cone Tour (cycling event) in Cary, NC, and many more.

“We are extremely excited to again offer our participants state of the art, international marathon caliber, technology that will enhance the race day experience for our participants”, said Daniel Scagnelli, event organizer. “This technology, combined with many other race day amenities and value-adds for participants, as well as high quality service will further contribute to our mission of providing an unrivaled race day experience, making the A Cool 5 Race Weekend the best benefit race in the southeast. This addition was very well received by all participants who attended last year’s event, so we expect everyone to be pleased again this year”.

“Seeing my name displayed across the finish line chute when I finished  was really cool, but when I received a text message with my finish time and placing seconds after crossing the finish line, that was the icing on the cake”, said Catie Bormann, three time A Cool 5 Race Weekend participant from Winston-Salem, NC. “The touch screen kiosk tent to access race results simultaneously was really neat too; lots of people were using it. It’s these types of features along with the super exciting environment and perks for participants that keeps me coming back year after year.”
