Objective, Benefit & Mission

Beech Mountain’s annual race tradition began in June of 2008 with A Cool 5. It will now become a series of three races through out the year each offering a different challenge to those who participate.

The first road race of the series is the Beech Mountain ClimbMAX, which includes a 10K, a 5K, and a Fun Run/Walk. The 10K run will go up and over elevations of 5400 feet, with outstanding views, track side spectator locations, long and short assents and descents with a fast downhill finish. The 5K will follow the beginning route of the 10K, then veer off to circle around through areas of moderate elevation changes before returning to the finish.  The Fun Run/Walk will leave from the same starting gate and travel a different route to take advantage of our Greenway and Parks before returning to the Start/Finish location. The ClimbMAX will have it all!

This is our 6th annual Race event held to strengthen existing fundraising efforts and to offer the children of our community, Beech Mountain visitors, and surrounding High Country communities a safe and enjoyable place to recreate.

These efforts will be accomplished by contributing funds to an array of community recreation projects, which has resulted in the development of a children's playground, hiking and biking trails, and ADA accessible community fishing docks in the past. We look forward to continuing to raise funds through this great benefit race that will be directly injected into the community to expand safe and fun recreational resources for our residents and visitors.

Since its inception, the Parks and Recreation Department has made great strides in helping grow indoor and outdoor recreation opportunities for the surrounding community. Currently we offer over 30 miles of publicly maintained trails, the 26.5 acre Buckeye Lake Recreation area including the 22,500 sq. ft. Buckeye Recreation Center, Lake Coffee Recreation area, and many more neighborhood parks. The Parks & Recreation Department also offers various health and wellness, community, and family programs for the general public. It is through the financial support of our races that we are able to offer such wonderful amenities to the public, so please register for the Beech Mountain ClimbMAX.
